What is an “Automotive Advisor?”

 

The role of an Automotive Advisor (AA) or Senior Automotive Advisor (SA) is to be an advocate and advisor for the consumer when it comes to the purchase and ownership of an automobile. The goal of the Automotive Advisor is to ensure the customer that for the amount of time they own or lease an automobile, the Advisor will assist them with advice and services. From the moment the customer starts researching the ownership/lease options for a car, until the car reaches the customers driveway, and then for the entire time of ownership the Automotive Advisor is there to assist with all the customer with owning and maintain the condition of the car mechanically and cosmetically. The automobile is a very expensive investment that needs to be taken care of properly to ensure long term use and value over time.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

• Approaches, greets, and offers assistance/direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom, sales lot, or calls by telephone.
• Listens and leads customers through the entire sales process.
• Effectively educates all customers on benefits that Sun Auto Group has to offer.
• Educates customers on financial products and financing options available to them.
• Offers and encourages test drives to all prospects while ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features.
• Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc.
• Attends in house training and any continuing education as required or dictated by management.
• All other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
• Must have a friendly, positive attitude and be a team player
• Strong customer service mentality
• Excellent communication skills
• Successful completion of Sun’s Sales Training Program
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

We currently have an opening for a Technician Apprentice. Those interested should be self-motivated, hardworking and CSI minded. We are a fast paced department that services all makes and models and will supply you with a high volume of work.

Job Summary:
A Technician Apprentice is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with company and factory standards. A Service Technician is expected to perform quality work without direct or continual supervision and be able and willing to work on all work assigned to him/her.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:

• Receive repair orders from a service advisor and or service manager.
• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company and factory standards.
• Perform vehicle tune-ups, steering/suspension repairs, electrical diagnosis, gasoline engine drive-ability diagnosis, and ABS/traction control system diagnosis.
• Must be able to complete work in a timely manner while upholding quality workmanship.
• Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Indicate if vehicle is down awaiting parts and pursue special ordering of parts, if appropriate.
• Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Communicate requests for additional work and estimates.
• Inform Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair, if authorized by the customer.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order using the concern, cause, correction format.
• Road test vehicles to quality check work performed as required, keeping in mind that customers’ vehicles should not be used for personal

Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Proficient use of scan tools.
• General mechanical skills.
• NYS Inspection License.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional service environment. This role routinely uses service equipment, tools, and machinery to perform essential duties. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to lift, bend, squat, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the Service Technician may be asked to mentor a less experienced Service Technician occasionaly.
